Insta Monday - Spring Is In The Air

I am without a doubt, a warm weather girl. It's thrilling to see the sun shining, wear open toe shoes and drive with the sun roof open. This weekend was a busy one and I spent more time with family and friends than doing blog posts for the week. I love Instagram but sometimes you want to say more than is possible in the short post. I thought I'd elaborate on a few of my recent photos.

From Top Left (clockwise)

  • DIY Distressed Jeans - I created my first pair of distressed jeans (like these expensive ones) recently and I love how they turned out. I am hunting for a few thrift stores pairs to add to my distressed jeans arsenal. I'm planning a DIY post soon.

  • Coffee Table Decorations - The tray has been repainted again (you've seen it here in silver). I'm loving it in gold. The candy dish is Depression glass that belonged to my Aunt Em. She used it to hold homemade jam. The pretty roses are from my friends' garden.

  • Baseball Game - We received a last minute invite from my sister to attend Friday night's Nationals game. We had a blast, the team won, and we got our faces up on the jumbotron!

  • New Polish - This pretty neutral polish (Zoya Rue) was in the People VIP Beauty box I received last week from People Magazine and Klout. It's a fantastic color. I also got a free three month subscription to People Magazine. If you'd like your own subscription, click this link for a great deal.

  • New Sunnies from Nectar - I received some new sunnies complements of Nectar sunglasses. I love them. Besides being stylish and mirrored (hot trend that I love) they are super comfortable and affordable. I will be doing a review post soon. In the meantime, if you'd like to check out the sunnies and get a 10% discount on your order, click this link and use the code: lovenectar

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

I spent the weekend in bed with a nasty stomach flu. So on top of my excitement in feeling like a human being again, this week's weather is looking warm and sunny (no snow in sight!). It's the perfect forecast for spring baseball. Spring evenings at the ballpark are always a blast but dressing can be a bit of a challenge. While the sun is out, it's warm but as soon as the sun goes down there is a chill in the air. I always want to root on the team looking chic but comfort is also key.

An easy but interesting striped tee and some white jeans are a great base for this outfit. I added a black and white bomber (it also comes in plus sizes, both from asos.com). I also love this one in silver. A trusty pair of shades for that late afternoon sun and my favorite ball cap to show my team spirit. The trek to the seats and standing in line calls for a hands free, cross-body bag. I usually opt for minimal accessories and of course comfortable walking shoes.

Inspiration - Summer Evenings at the Ballpark

My Uncle Tommy loved baseball.  He loved it so much that he took his vacation every year during the World Series.  He wanted to have time to devote to the watching the games.  My Dad had fond memories of traveling to Washington, DC with Uncle Tommy to attend Washington Senators baseball games.  The Senators are no longer an MLB team but now we have the Washington Nationals.  I occasionally catch part of a televised game if {msL}or my soon to be brother in-law are watching but I don't watch games on my own.  When I was in college I attended my first major league game at the ball park and was hooked. I love watching sports live.  I'm not a true fan, I don't know stats or even the name of every player.  I understand most sports and love the excitement of watching a game live.  Being at the ballpark is like nothing else.  We love attending Nationals games and I was inspired to pick some of my favorite ballpark attire.

Ballgame Inspiration

There is nothing like a summer evening at the ballpark.  The weather is always warm. A cool comfortable outfit is a must.  I always go casual to the ballpark.  I wear jeans or capri pants, tennis shoes or flat sandals, simple but stand out jewelry, and great sunnies. I already own a Nats ball cap and awesome silver Ray-Ban Aviators but I'd love to get a Nats t-shirt.White Converse are also on my list. When I spied this baseball manicure on Pinterest, I was truly inspired.

If you've never been to a pro baseball game, I highly recommend it.  Even if you don't have a MLB team close by, you could catch a minor league game.  They are so much fun!

Take Me Out To the Ball Game

On Sunday my sister invited us to watch the Washington Nationals play the Florida Marlins.  We had a fantastic time!  Great weather, beer, hot dogs, and the best ball park companions ever. What more could a girl ask for?  I debated about my outfit. The weather said it would be in the high 60's but a little breezy.  I wanted to be comfortable but didn't think I  needed a coat. I wanted to wear some Nationals insignia to support the team but the only team shirt I own is short sleeved. I've been dying to break out my faux fur vest, ever since I watched that Rachel Zoe marathon on Bravo. Here it is folks, my very eclectic ball game outfit. By the way, the Nationals won!!!

Shirt - Target, Jeans - Lane Bryant, Faux Fur Vest - Rachel Zoe for QVC,
Hat - Nationals Team Store, Shoes - Donald Pliner via Nordstrom Rack, Bracelets - JewelMint and Goodwill
Sunglasses - Ray-Ban
