I'm Obsessed Thank You Very Much - Colored Faux Fur

Cold weather arrived in the DC area over this past week. The chill in the air has just served to amp up my obsession with colored faux fur. A few years ago, I got a few faux fur pieces and a leopard coat. I wear them often when the weather turns cool. Ever since I spotted burgundy fur on the runways last year, I haven't been able to stop thinking about another faux fur purchase. I especially love colors like burgundy and blue but I also like black, pink and off white. If you're not into a jacket, a collar, scarf or fur trimmed gloves may work better for you.

Inspiration - Fall Denim Styling

I've always been a jeans girl. I love denim and I'm loving that it's not just for casual wear anymore. I love dressing up denim and making it look sophisticated. I spent some time over the weekend, looking for lots of denim inspiration. I found some great options to style a the fall trends I told you about last week, this time with denim.

Easy Update with Fall 2013 Accessory Trends

I don't believe in spending tons on trends and I love a good accessory. Great accessories can take wardrobe basics and turn them into an amazing outfit. By spending a small amount, you use this season's accessory trends to elevate your outfits.

Fall 2013 Accessory Trends

I've selected just a few of my favorite trends. I love these items to fill that void because they rock the trend and are unique at the same time.

This spike necklace from Asos includes rhinestones for a pretty and tough punk look. Contrast trim and gold hardward turn this basic top handle bag into something special. The zippers on these elbow length leather gloves add a cool twist. The wide frame and rounded shape of these oversize cat eye sunglasses take them from traditional to modern. The color and versatility of these statement earrings made me fall for them. You can wear them as chandelier earrings or as studs by removing the dangle. Two in one, SCORE!  Oxfords are one on my favorite shoe styles. The oxblood color makes these perfect for fall. I own a couple of faux fur scarves. They can make a simple coat look more expensive but they are an inexpensive addition to your wardrobe. Go for a solid color like black or brown or a versatile print like this snow leopard.

All of these items are under $70 and are chic enough that you'll be able to wear them for years to come.

Take Me Out To the Ball Game

On Sunday my sister invited us to watch the Washington Nationals play the Florida Marlins.  We had a fantastic time!  Great weather, beer, hot dogs, and the best ball park companions ever. What more could a girl ask for?  I debated about my outfit. The weather said it would be in the high 60's but a little breezy.  I wanted to be comfortable but didn't think I  needed a coat. I wanted to wear some Nationals insignia to support the team but the only team shirt I own is short sleeved. I've been dying to break out my faux fur vest, ever since I watched that Rachel Zoe marathon on Bravo. Here it is folks, my very eclectic ball game outfit. By the way, the Nationals won!!!

Fall Trends 2011

I know it seems so early to be thinking of fall trends. We just started shopping for cute sandals. Fashion waits for no girl, even Real Girls.  On Tuesday night I attended the Fashion Group International's presentation of fall trends for 2011.  It was great to see and discuss things that are coming up for fall. I reported on the event for GalTime.  To read the full post, click here.

My personal trend favorites for fall are:

  • Capes
  • Pleats
  • Colored Fur (the faux kind)
  • Structured Bags

Warm and Fuzzy Winter Wishes

I know you've seen it everywhere too.  Faux fur jackets, vests, coats, scarves, collars. I can't get them off of my mind.

I really want a faux fur vest. I've seen them styled in so many great ways. I loved the look I saw the other day of one paired with a leather biker jacket.  This one by Rachel Zoe for QVC comes in three colors but I like this silver version best. It's $79.80, which is a good deal in comparison to the other faux fur vests I've found. The price can be justified by the fact that I can wear it from fall through winter and into early spring. I own a Rachel Zoe faux fur scarf that I got last winter and the quality is very good.

I also love this navy blue fur collar. It's from QVC, LOGO by Lori Goldstein. It's a little pricey at $40 but I can think of so many ways to wear it this winter. It will really jazz up my basic winter coats and would even look great with a crew neck sweater.  The blue makes it unexpected and fun.

With a little faux fur, I'll be warm, fuzzy, and stylish this fall and winter.
